Last year my good friend Meg Murray, Founder of Nasty Woman Wines, invited me to be on the next label of her special production Merlot.
Nasty Woman Wines is a social-change wine company that donates a percentage of net profits to supporting women in leadership.
A couple of years ago, a woman contacted me out of the blue. She said she found me on Instagram and that we "had to connect!"
Her name was Meg Murray and she had recently founded a wine company dedicated to empowering women called NASTY WOMAN WINES. 🍷
There was a time in my career when I felt heartbroken about my job💔.
For two years I had a great job at a small company that I truly loved. I had been promoted to the Director level and was making the big bucks. I loved my colleagues and the work I was doing felt meaningful and fulfilling.
Then everything started to change.
As I stepped into my new leadership role, I experienced tension with my boss after I found out what was really going on at the company.
All of my life, I’ve heard that I can be intimidating. This strikes me as funny because if you get to know me personally, you’ll see that I’m just as goofy, prone to make mistakes, doubtful and uncertain as the next girl.
You are responsible for managing your career, which means you must make an extra effort to speak up and ask for what you want. Advocating for opportunities at work so that you build bridges, position yourself as a leader, and maintain a good rapport with your colleagues can be challenging. You might worry about the consequences of speaking up — how people will react, what they will think of you, and how they will behave.
