Since it's International Women's Day, we thought it might be fun to share some facts about women that you probably didn't know (or might have forgotten) so here we go!

1. Did you know we've just barely had the right to vote for 100 years (we're just two years shy) and that women couldn't own a credit card until 1974? In fact, until the Pregnancy Discrimination Act in 1978 a woman could be legally fired if she was pregnant! Today might be a good day to thank the women who've come before you for their strength, resolve and commitment to making the world a better place for women.

2. Did you know that research shows (and there is a lot of research on this) that companies with greater gender diversity outperform others?Yep, it's true. Gender diversity is linked to better financial performance, improved customer service, more creative and effective decision making, higher worker engagement, increased innovation and larger stockholder returns. Now take that to the bank!

3. Did you know that women today make up more than half of the workforce, are now starting businesses at double the rate of men and comprise more than 56 percent of students on campuses nationwide?Given these trends you might be wondering why we don't see more women in positions of power? It's a complex issue but some of the biggest factors affecting this gap are the motherhood penalty/ fatherhood bonus, the lack of a clear path to the top, and decreased confidence after college.

4. Did you know that the world of work is changing in a way that play's to women's greatest skills and talents? The research shows that companies are looking for what women innately have to offer like emotional intelligence, holistic thinking, good communication skills (think empathy and compassion), leadership founded in service, resourcefulness and creative thinking. In other have superpowers ladies and it's time you bring them into the workplace!
