Whatever It Is You're Meant to Do, Do It Now

“Whatever it is you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible." ~ Doris Lessing

Being awake in your professional life isn't easy.

Advocating for yourself. Negotiating your salary. Using your voice. Taking a seat at the table. Asking for the promotion. Leading teams and high profile projects. Finding the job of your dreams. Integrating into a tribe of like-minded people.

This stuff isn't a stroll in the park. It can take real work. Real thought. Real transformation. Real action on your part.

But what's the alternative? Walking around asleep? Numb to your emotions? Closed down from your senses? Feeling dark and stormy all the time? Jealous and envious of others? Fearful of the unknown? Full of doubt?

Ugh. I don't know about you, but I choose the path of being awake. Awake to my feelings, my vulnerabilities, my grief, my shame, and my mistakes, and I choose to work on them.

And the rewards of doing the work are many. The feeling you get when you speak truth, when you express yourself, when you stand up for what you believe is right, when you ask for what you want, when you feel the sweet victory of a win!! Ahhh...now that's the good stuff;)
